County Measures

Yes on Measure B - SMART Sales Tax Extension

Measure B is on the June 2, 2026 ballot in both Marin and Sonoma Counties. A simple majority is required for passage.

Access4Bikes Votes urges a YES vote on Measure B. This measure extends the existing quarter-cent sales tax that funds the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) system for an additional 30 years — with no increase in the tax rate — generating approximately $51 million annually. For cyclists, SMART provides additional benefits beyond the commuter train. The SMART Pathway, designated as the southern portion of the Great Redwood Trail, already provides over 39 miles of Class I bike and pedestrian infrastructure running from Larkspur to Windsor, with more segments under construction. About 13% of SMART riders are cyclists who use the train to extend their range, commute car-free, and connect to trailheads across the North Bay. Without Measure B, the existing tax expires in 2029 and both train service and ongoing pathway construction would be in jeopardy. Voting YES on Measure B is a vote for more miles of safe, dedicated bike infrastructure throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties. We urge our members and supporters to vote YES on Measure B on June 2.
